Dancing with the colours . .

"I started painting when I was six years old.
I would charge a dollar to spray paint flames
and other designs on bicycles and that went
well until I was 12 - then one day my buddy's mom got mad at me because I painted on one
of their dogs."

The Artist's Life . . a Biography
- Canadian Artist - Nic Roasting -

Nic Roasting's life of independence began the day he was born. One could say he came to this world as an old soul and grew younger from there.
Hobbema, Alberta was the place that received his spirit to this world. If you're curious as to where in Alberta that might be, you'd find it somewhere south of Edmonton between Ponoka and Wetaskiwin . . . and unless you've been to either of those places, you're likely
still lost.

From an early age, Nic discovered many uses for his varied talents with airbrush colour, and all those who knew him benefited from this venture - including some of the local dog population. His surface of choice these days includes furniture and illustration board but his portfolio has included canvas, automobiles and from time to time, people sporting interesting and original Halloween costumes.
Nic's life is peppered by remarkable experiences that have left their share of scars, both dark and light. He has seen the worst man can deliver to each other and despite the pain that once surrounded his life, the prayers of the Elders and family in his life have elevated his heart, spirit and beliefs above these things.

Nic's beautiful daughter has touched the soul of the child within him and through her eyes, he has been given the gift of a child's view of the world - a world of purity and simple things, of kindness and love without condition. The children, Elders and family in his life have given him the strength to create, to live and to breathe the best of each day.

Nic Roasting is a man of diverse and varied life experiences. Those experiences have given his artwork the strength of line and boldness of colour that you now see. His life has touched the spirit world and the spirit world has touched him back.

And in so doing, the world has become a better place because of the beauty he creates with his hands and the gift of his spirit which is given in the pieces he creates.
